photovoltaic electricity take-back conditions

As part of the second phase of the revision of the Electricity Supply Act (StromVG) and the Energy Act (StromVG ), our model for the remuneration of photovoltaic electricity fed into the grid will change from January 1, 2026.

Resell the electricity you don't use

Trade-in price

The feed-in price is the amount at which SEIC buys back the electricity you feed into the grid, i.e. the electricity that is not consumed by you.

From January1, 2026, SEIC will apply the average market price per quarter for energy fed back into the grid.

Prices will be calculated at the end of each quarter by the SFOE to reflect the reality of supply and demand.

A minimum price of 6.2 cts/kWh will be guaranteed for installations with a capacity of less than 150 kW (kilowatts), with or without self-consumption.

This threshold protects producers in the event of a drop in market prices, and guarantees a basic level of profitability for installations.

System power Method of payment for energy fed into the grid
< 150 kW
Remuneration according to the quarterly reference market price, as defined by the SFOE, but at least 6.2cts/kWh
From 150 kW to 3MW
Payment based on the quarterly reference market price, as defined by the SFOE

More information on electricity buyback

  • SEIC's feed-in tariff does not apply to photovoltaic installations already benefiting from a national feed-in tariff (RPC, FFS).
  • Guarantees of origin can be sold to various players on the electricity market at a price agreed between the two parties.
  • Prices and conditions are valid from January 1, 2026 and may be revised from time to time.

Resell the electricity you don't use

Have you recently installed photovoltaic panels on the roof of your home and are producing more electricity than you consume? If you don't benefit from a national or cantonal feed-in tariff program, SEIC will buy back your excess electricity and feed it into the grid at the sale price. Buy-back conditions depend on the power of the installation.

More information on electricity buyback

  • The "price of energy supplied by SEIC" refers to the price of the "energy" component of your SEIClogic electricity tariff (single, double or Pro).
  • SEIC's feed-in tariff does not apply to photovoltaic installations already benefiting from a national feed-in tariff (RPC, FFS).

Guarantees of origin for electricity branding

What is a guarantee of origin?

This is an official electronic certificate, issued by Pronovo, whichidentifies the origin of the electricity consumed according to the production technology used (solar, hydro, nuclear, etc.) and the place of production .

The use of these certificates in the marking of the electricity supplied thus creates greater transparency for end consumers, who can check the origin of the electricity they buy.

Guarantees of origin for your photovoltaic electricity enable you to market its ecological added value.

Who is Pronovo?

Pronovo SA is the accredited certification body for the registration of Guarantees of Origin (GO) in accordance with the DETEC Ordinance. It is also responsible for implementing federal programs to promote renewable energies, in particular by paying subsidies for plant construction.

How can you add value to your guarantees of origin?

You can sell your guarantees of origin to increase the return on the electricity you feed into the grid. Please note that SEIC will no longer buy back guarantees of origin from January 1, 2026, in accordance with the remuneration model chosen for basic supply (LApEl).

1. Certification of your installation with Pronovo

  • If you have received a federal grant, your installation is certified.
  • If not, you can check its certification on Pronovo's " My project " page.

2. Transmission of production data

  • Once the plant has been commissioned and connected to the SEIC grid, the production data are transmitted to Pronovo, which will generate the guarantees of origin.

3. Choose your recovery method

  • Direct sale to a buyer : some electricity suppliers buy them back.
  • Companies committed to the energy transition and local authorities are also acquiring them, in particular to achieve their sustainability objectives.
  • Sell them on a specialized platform, such as BUYECO , which also markets GOs for small installations.

4. Establish a permanent order

  • To sell your guarantees of origin, you choose a buyer and contact him.
  • Once you have their approval, you enter a standing order in the name of the chosen buyer on the Pronovo platform.
  • Once the sale is completed, you will receive a quarterly payment based on the feed-in tariff per GO and the quantity of electricity fed into your distributor's grid.

To enter a standing order to transfer your GOs to the selected electricity supplier or trader, log on to the Pronovo platform.

Guarantees of origin - we'll buy them back!

What is a guarantee of origin? It's a certificate issued by Pronovo to guarantee the origin of the electricity produced, enabling the operator of a renewable energy source to market its ecological added value. This certificate creates greater transparency for end consumers.

Guarantee of origin (GO) buyback program :

  • At the customer's request, SEIC offers a buy-back program for guarantees of origin (GO) for electricity fed into the grid at a price of 2cts/kWh for photovoltaic installations with a connection capacity of 30 kVA or less.
  • For photovoltaic installations with a connection capacity of over 30 kVA, guarantees of origin can be sold to SEIC or other electricity market players at a price agreed between the two parties.
  • This guarantee of origin buyback program is subject to SEIC's "Special conditions relating to the valuation of guarantees of origin".
  • Prices and conditions are valid from January 1, 2023 and may be revised periodically.
